Integrative Tools for Managing Stress & Trauma

Welcome

I’m Patricia, I am an occupational therapist who uses Yoga, Meditation, and Life & Health Coaching to Calm the Body and Mind

Seeking a life of wellness but it’s escaping you?

When you can’t just shake off past or present events, putting that smile on your face every day takes energy. Or maybe you’re coping well on good days but find it difficult to navigate new stressors like those in 2020. Also consider this possibility, stress might be the underlying reason you keep making the same mistakes in your work or family life.

Truth is, difficult things don’t just go away. If you want to get unstuck, you need a way to process and bring resolution to underlying stress and difficult memories.

There are so many events that lead to stress and anxiety, including:

  • Sudden loss

  • Medical crisis

  • Violent experience

  • Childhood abuse, neglect, or significant stressful event

  • Major life events such as birth, moving, job loss, new job, or relationship change

  • Major societal stressors such as COVID-19 or systemic racism

  • Any situation where you felt unsafe

Whether the cause is big or small, I believe you deserve the time and care to find peace, resilience, and healing.

In many ways, you have triumphed through any steps you’ve already taken – counseling, medication, and just deciding to move forward. However, it’s possible you still aren’t living life as well as you could be. Where your mind and body feel ready to take on new challenges.

You might be familiar with carrying stress in the muscles of your neck and shoulders, but your body can hold emotions in other physical ways as well. Trauma and stress make it difficult to move forward because the neurons in your brain and the fibers in your body hold onto those memories, causing a ripple effect into other areas of life.

It’s entirely possible you’re still dealing with any or all of the following ripple effects of stress:

  • Anxiety

  • Inability to sleep

  • Irritability

  • Disconnection in relationships

  • Lack of concentration

  • Difficulty setting and following through on goals

  • Difficulty dealing with new stressors

  • Recurrent memories

  • Muscle pain or tightness

  • Feeling “on edge” or unable to relax

However, many of these problems can improve, it’s a matter of investing time and effort into daily practices that promote healing and restoration.

It’s possible to get better sleep, to improve your concentration, have better relationships, and improve your overall mood.

Imagine thriving instead of merely surviving. Now that is a goal worth working towards.

Using Wellness Strategies to Manage Stress and Trauma

You can address the physical and emotional components of stress with:

  • Breathwork helps deactivate a hyperactive nervous system and restore calm

  • Meditation and mindfulness helps calm the brain to work through underlying issues

  • Stretching and moving the bones and muscles releases endorphins for improved mood, decreased pain, and increased overall health

  • Life & Health coaching provides tools for coping, setting goals, developing a routine, and organizing a more balanced and satisfying life

Building a life of wellness comes from dealing with all the components of trauma – mind, body, and everyday skills.

When you combine the power of yoga and life coaching together, you get a transformative plan that reduces pain, improves thinking, and helps you be more successful in relationships and work.

Honoring trauma and learning to live in a new way, free from overwhelming stress, is not a simple thing. When not done correctly, your steps forward might actually turn into steps backward. Plus, the pace of going through the process is different for every individual. It’s important to have a practitioner who can identify and walk you through the right steps

This is why my background in mental health occupational therapy and extensive experience serving individuals with trauma is so important. I’m both passionate and uniquely qualified to provide yoga and life & health coaching to support those who don’t always have many options when it comes to qualified practitioners.
